From missing my mom

I may be grown up

No one loves snowy mornings
As much as teachers

A misplaced house key
Led to a ladies' night out
While waiting for Dad

Multiple layers
Provide a needed buffer
Against Arctic air

In spite of our politics

My baby's chapped winter hands
Are as red as mine

With no help from Mom
She climbed the playground ladder
Such a grown up girl

No snow, just more rain
Wimpiest wettest winter
Toboggan dreams fade

Doing my snow dance
With inside-out pajamas
Let those flurries fly

Crawling into bed
Wrapped in the sweet luxury
Of clean silky sheets

Watched too much TV
During my sick days at home
My brain turned to mush

Bath bed and play times
Plus bringing meals to my door
Make him Super Dad

Silly gosh darn flu
Grateful for such a mild case
But quarantine stinks

We're teaching the kid
The importance of sharing
So she shared her cold

These student birthdays
Make staying fit difficult
I eat their cupcakes

A babe with a cold
Means little sleep for Mommy
Long workday ahead

Dave and I discuss
Our conspiracy theories
Homeland is to blame

Beckoned by cookies
Who foil my healthy plans
With chocolate chips

Why won't this kid sleep
The way she always used to
Exhausted parents
